  • 解釈:一日に千里を走る駿馬(しゅんめ)も、年には勝てず駄馬(だば)にも負けるように、優れた人も年を取ると、凡人の働きに及ばなくなるという意。
  • Literal:A swift horse also old and is inferior to a hack.
  • Interpretation:When the superior person gets old, I become inferior to the work of the ordinary man. A man of talent past his prime is no better than one who never had talent to begin with.
  • 類義:昔千里も今一里。昔の剣、今日の菜刀。
